Hand Bell Choirs
MIPC has two handbell choirs, Generation ringers directed by the able and enthusiastic, Sharon Hertzler and Ringers of Tomorrow, directed by Lynwood Everson.
The Generation Ringers is a diverse and dedicated musical performing group of 12-14 ringers, ringing 5 octaves of Handbells and 4 octaves of Handchimes. The group rings at both worship services 1/month and for special occasions and learns music of a variety of styles. No previous ringing experience is necessary, however the ability to read music is very helpful. If you play or have played a musical instrument of some type and have the ability to read notes and rhythms, then you will be best prepared to learn the skill of ringing handbells. Since there are a limited number of spots available, please inquire with Director Sharon Hertzler as to when there will be a position open in the group. The time commitment for this group is about 1 1/2 hrs of practice per week, on performance days rehearsal starts at 8:00 am (prior to the Early service) and substitutes must be sought for absences. Each year the Generation Ringers have been honored to be invited to play at Disney Resorts during the Christmas season. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm.
Ringers of Tomorrow is a beginner Handbell Choir, composed of various ages who perform multiple times during the year. This group is a great place to start learning the techniques and skills of ringing bells. Ability to read notes and rhythms is very helpful. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings, after Tremendous Tuesday Dinner, at 6:15 pm. Contact Director Lynwood Everson, if you are interested in joining or in substituting.
