MIPC Sunday Mornings - Enrich your faith!
Meet your friends in Faith! Sunday morning study: 9:45-10:45
The Theological Roundtable is back!
We will do a Bible Study from the ”THE THOUGHTFUL CHRISTIAN.”
§ How did Jesus’ death save us?
§ Did Jesus always preach non-violence?
§ Jesus through Old Testament eyes?
Everyone is welcome to join us any Sunday as we discuss the Faith question of the day. Watch the bulletin for updates on weekly lessons.
ALPHA Series selections
Looking for something different? The Alpha Series is an attempt to explain the gospel of Jesus Christ in a way that ordinary people can understand, and apply to themselves. Come hear the talks that have converted climbers of Mt. Everest, young housewives and mothers in Europe, American teens, and even Seminary professors…..yes seminary professors!
The following Winter and Spring Adult classes have come to a close:
Short-Term & In-depth Studies: Kerygma
The Commandments for a Blessed Life- This Presbyterian Study takes its name from the Greek word “Proclamation” and encourages modern day disciples to take the whole Bible seriously and to see where the Old Testament and Jesus’ teachings fit together. 1) We take the Bible as our primary text but look to modern scholarship in language, ancient cultures and archeology to help us understand the Word in context 2) We use Student journals to encourage regular scripture reading and reflection 3) We share our questions and thoughts to focus on and mature in our Christian discipleship. Cordelia Scheuermann & Fred Shay Session Room 4, Ennis Bldg.
Join us for our Study of The Book of ACTS:

MIPC Sunday Morning Children and Youth
Learning, Loving & Living God’s Word
9:45-10:45 AM Sunday Mornings
Sunday School for Children: Pre-Schoolers
3 & 4 year olds are in for a big treat! We have songs, dances, puppets and Bible stories waiting for you in the Cherub room behind the sanctuary! You’re growing up and are ready to learn meal time and bed time prayers, songs and Bible stories! If you see a tear in your Mommy’s eyes when you say them-you will know that she has come to understand the Bible verse “And a little child shall lead them!” Isaiah 11: 6 Kelly Franklin
Elementary kids: JIGGLERS & JAM! have been going on a Bible Trek this summer.......Room 12 in the two-story Christian Education Building at 9:30 AM. There's still time to join the expedition as we trek across the Holy Land..... for the rest of July and August.
Starting again in September:
JIGGLY’S: Jesus Invites Guys and Girls Like YOU!
Children 5-8 years old are invited to join us in the Storyteller’s Tent (Room 11-upstairs in our 2 story education building) for active Bible learning that never leaves you sitting still! We may learn a Bible story through playing with clay, sand or water, with puppets, paint or music!
Join Mrs. Janice Everson and Mrs. Cheryl Avdellas for JIGGLY learning !
JAM: Jesus and Me
is for 9-12 year olds who prefer to learn by hitting a target of truth, fishing for faith, jamming’ on guitars, Bible Baseball, and Christian Computer games! Parents: This is not your Grandma’s Sunday School! We have done our “blessed best” to make learning the Bible fun. We need you to do your part and bring your kids to Sunday School ! PS-Take a look what we have for you too! Cool Teachers: Pam & Brian Poland
Straight Talk for Parents: You know that children are not mature enough to consistently choose the things that guarantee their physical health. Children are also not mature enough to consistently choose what they need to build their spiritual health. Make Sunday mornings the day that you all expect to come to church and Sunday School. Being “drug” to our Sunday School is not a problem! It will become a joy! Once they get into this habit they just might have a really good addiction-a total dependence on God! And THAT is the best prevention for destructive choices later on!
The Youth meet in the Youth Building-the one story "house" next to the Fellowship Hall on Cone Road.
Preparing For Confirmation Class: "The Bible-The Story of God's Faithfulness-a Survey of the Old Testament", starts again in the Fall with teacher, June Downen.
We are SO proud of our Confirmands of 2010: Jaime and Samantha Farls, Jacob Neihouse and Ryu Yamamoto !
Come on back and join with the Confirmation Class of 2011 as we keep diggin’ the Greatest Story Ever Told: God’s Holy Word.
If our youth will grow with a faith upon which to build their character and values, they must know God’s Word. This wonderful and interesting class is part of a 2 year study of the whole Bible and is intended as preparation for Confirmation studies. We want our kids to be able to say “I know my Bible and I know what I believe!”
Your youth will look forward to this class that lets them learn to use their Bibles and reference tools while enjoying drama, journalism and games to help the story sink in deep. It is open to youth from 5th-8th grade.
Teacher: June Downen, Rm. 12.

JUNIOR HIGHS
Does life and school sometimes feel like having to hack your way through tangled vines of gossip, judgments, tricks and pitfalls? Do any of your classmates remind you of real animals?! It’s a jungle out there and you need a trusted guide to help figure out why life is unfair at times and how to handle it! Meet us in the SCUBA Room of the Youth House! Sunday 9:45 am Mike Smith
Generation “Why!?” Youth: Senior Highs
We have an extraordinary group of youth who don't want a spoon fed faith. They are looking for honest and hard hitting discussions so this year we will use “The Thoughtful Christian” for Youth! Here’s a preview of two of our newest studies:
“Twilight”-the popular book and film that tells a story of forbidden love & a girl’s exploration of what kind of relationship she wants. What kind of love and relationships does the Bible recommend? What are the consequences of turning our backs on Biblical wisdom?
“I Am Legend”-this popular science fiction film explores the possibilities of the end of modern civilization due to pandemic disease and introduces the concept of a ripple effect. What was Jesus’ ripple effect and what will ours be?
In addition to Bible studies, our youth participate in “Church Hops” learning about our own Christian traditions by comparing them to those of others and then visiting those congregations. Haven’t you always wondered?
Sponsors: Cindy Bottomley & Dave Hertzler
See the youth bulletin board or check your email for news of our upcoming activities.
