Law of the Garbage Truck

Law of the Garbage Truck

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!' This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

45 Life Lessons

"45 Life Lessons"

This was written By Regina Brett of
The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio .

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote
the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-
requested column I've ever written. My
odometer rolls over to 70 in August, so here
goes:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

I'm on the phone and ask to be taken to the store.

Inside I'm thinking, 'Can't you see I'm on the phone?'
Obviously, not.  No one can see if I'm on the phone, or
cooking, or sweeping the floor, or even standing on my head in the corner,
because no one can see me at all.

Road to Success

The road to success is not straight.

There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion,  speed bumps called Friends, red lights called

Enemies, caution lights called Family.  You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called

Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Almighty God,

you will make it to a place called Success
